Study Funds
Many advantages in a single savings vehicle – highly worth your while!
The term "Study fund" is consistently viewed positively, and for good reason. It is currently the only medium-term savings vehicle.
It is the only savings track in existence today that allows both employees and self-employed individuals to accumulate funds for any purpose.
After six years, you may redeem the fund as a lump-sum capital withdrawal. If you wish to withdraw part of the funds before six years have elapsed, it is possible to redeem only a portion of the balance, keep the remaining funds invested in the account, and continue to benefit from investment returns, while retaining the option to make additional partial withdrawals at any time as needed.
It is important to highlight the key advantages:
- Tax benefits – this is the only medium-term savings channel that provides tax benefits on contributions. Additionally, after six years, both the accumulated principal and the investment gains may be withdrawn tax-free, subject to applicable regulations.
- Flexible Risk Level – you may select your preferred level of risk in accordance with your personal risk profile, from conservative investment tracks to more specialized and higher-risk tracks.
- Switching From One Channel to Another Without Loss – if you wish to allocate part of your savings to different investment tracks, you may do so without affecting your accrued rights or seniority (tenure) within the fund.
- After Six Years: Liquid, Tax-Exempt Savings – once six years have passed since the fund’s inception, you may defer withdrawals to any future date that suits your financial planning. Any additional contributions made after the six-year period will continue to enjoy the same fund benefits and seniority. In the meantime, this structure provides an ideal savings solution: liquid funds available at any time, with exemption from capital gains tax (subject to statutory limits and conditions).
- The Advantage of Multiple Funds – If you hold more than one Study Fund under your name and have accumulated at least six years of tenure in one of them, you may withdraw funds from another fund without waiting for an additional six-year qualifying period.
A study fund is truly a standout savings instrument within the capital markets and long-term savings landscape.
